Welcome to the West Yorkshire Print Workshop

Based in Mirfield, the West Yorkshire Print Workshop is an open access printmaking facility.

We also run a regular programme of specialist printmaking courses and other related activities including arts and crafts activities and workshops for young people. We support artists and creative businesses by providing printmaking facilities, affordable studio spaces and exhibiting opportunities for members.

WYPW is a registered charity (no. 1010125) and a Regularly Funded Organisation of the Arts Council, England. We welcome any offers of voluntary assistance and sponsorship from the private and business sectors.

WHAT'S ON:

Courses at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop

We have a rolling programme of vocational & educational workshops in printmaking techniques and other related arts.

Courses run on either evenings or weekends, are designed for beginners or the more experienced and are led by specialist artists.

We work with both oil and acrylic/water-based inks, and aim to minimize the use of more potentially toxic materials where possible.

Hidden Talents

A display of work by the disabled members of the Howland Centre, to be held at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop gallery in late August 2009.

The Howland Centre is an independent charity working with disabled adults from all over North Kirklees.
Their management team say 'we are unique in the fact that we like our members to be involved in a wide range of activities within the Centre and we are proud of our reputation for the high standard of artwork that is produced by our members. We believe that these activities will improve the members' dexterity and increase their self confidence'.

Join us at the preview on Friday 21st August, 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

HOST OPEN STUDIO TRAIL 2009

During HOST artists from around the region offer you a snippet of their world. The trail invites you to experience the variety of work in a range of different atmospheres.

The West Yorkshire Print Workshop will be opening their doors on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of September so you can come and look around and see our artists work displayed in the many studios and main gallery. There will also be other demonstrations and activities on the day to keep you entertained...watch this space.

'09 Summer Holidays FREE Fun for Kids

FREE ART & CRAFT WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AGED 8 TO 14
(FUNDED BY MIRFIELD EDUCATIONAL CHARITY)

Starting in May last year and funded by Mirfield Educational Charity, WYPW provided free art and craft workshops during the school holidays. These were a great success and we have now secured further funding to offer the workshops on a more permanent basis (from Kirklees Arts in the Neighbourhood and the Awards for All lottery grants scheme). Watch this space for details of future activities and events...

		Photo Etching Sean Rorke 4th & 5th July 09 11am-5pm This course is ideal for anyone with previous knowledge of etching, although this is not essential.

		A Weekend With Lino Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller 8th & 9th August 09 10am-4pm Explore the possibilities of linocut printing. This course is suited to those with previous printmaking experience

WYPW SHOP

		Our shop sells a wide range of printmaking papers, inks and other related sundries all at very competitive prices. We sell to both members & non members. The opening times follow that of the workshop but items can arrange to be left out for members outside of these hours. Click on the bag opposite to go directly to the shop price list.
