Henry Moore, Three Reclining Figures, 1971

We are extremely pleased to announce the details of our forthcoming exhibition GROUNDED, which brings to West Yorkshire a carefully selected collection of prints by three of the most prolific and revered British artists of the last century- Henry Moore, John Piper and Graham Sutherland. The exhibition draws together lithographs, etchings and screen prints produced between 1950 and 1986, which expose the artists’ shared interest in metamorphosis and desire to fuse the characteristics of the human form with those of the natural landscape.

Whilst striving to capture and distil the essence of human presence throughout the post-war period, printmaking became a way for these three artists to test their ideas, which often involved blurring the boundaries between anthropomorphic figuration and geological study. This display at West Yorkshire Print Workshop will serve to present the disparate outcomes of such trials, and celebrate the expressive potential they each found in cultivating ambiguity between figure and ground.

All prints will be available to purchase and range between £500 and £3000.
