Time and Time Again
Saturday 2 August – Saturday 20 September 2014
Artists Talk: Saturday 6 September 2014 4pm-5pm (All welcome, refreshments available)
Here at West Yorkshire Print Workshop we are delighted to be presenting Time and Time Again– an exhibition showcasing a number of recent prints by Bradford-based artist June Russell.
Straddling the line between representation and abstraction, June’s work is concerned with landscape and the marks of habitation that can reconfigure a place’s meaning over time. The unique and somewhat unconventional vantage points taken by June are used both to challenge viewers’ notions of what constitutes ‘beauty’, but also to stimulate experimentation with a wide range of traditional and contemporary printmaking methods back at her studio in South Square, Bradford. In recent years June has concentrated on drypoint and collograph media- producing very small editions, with subdued colour palettes, in which each print is subtly different. June has also rekindled an acquaintance with direct drawing and is currently working at Bradford Industrial Museum as part of a group residency with the Inkers Printmaking group.
June Russell will be giving a talk about her practice on Saturday 6 September 2014 at 4pm. All are welcome to join us for this- refreshments will be available. Please RSVP if you’d like to attend (email firstname.lastname@example.org)
