EXHIBITION INVITE: EVA MILEUSNIC, SHARED HISTORIES

1.HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome to 2013, only a couple of days late thanks to Pope Gregory XIII not foreseeing that we like to send our news out on a Thursday. Hopefully everyone has had an enjoyable festive period and you’re already contemplating fun and fascinating creative ventures for the months ahead.
This month’s bulletin is a bit of a short one as it’s been rather quiet over the Christmas break but nevertheless we’ve done our best to include some interesting opportunities and important information.

2. CHANGES TO OUR OPENING TIMES
As you’re probably aware in 2012, as part of the reorganisation of the Arts Council of England Funding Programme, WYPW became a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO). The investment feeds into our aspiration to be a Printmaking Centre of Excellence; increase the opportunity for the wider community to be inspired by the arts; increase generated income and become less reliant on grant funding, ultimately making WYPW more resilient.
As part of these ambitions and changes in staffing we can, from the end of February, increase our opening hours to include Mondays and *Fridays (experienced members only). Due to an exciting project with the University of Huddersfield, during the interim period of 21st January to 24th February the print rooms will not be available on Thursdays and Fridays. Again this is part of our on-going development increasing collaboration with local schools and universities.
WYPW Opening Times:

*Please note, there will be NO technical assistance available on these days and you MUST book to ensure that the facilities you require are available. The usual booking system will still be in place.

3. UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS AT WYPW
Totes Amaze!
Wednesday 9th January - Saturday 16th February 2013
The exhibition will look at the rise of the Tote bag from the eco-friendly shopping option to being a popular format of creative self-expression and contemporary fashion statement. The exhibition will also feature information on the designers and artists who use the tote bag as a way to communicate increasingly sophisticated graphic messages and ideas to wider public.
The exhibition aims to showcase the most creative, inventive and striking examples of the tote from the last 10 years. The featured totes will illustrate the wealth of international creative talent working in this field today.
Textile Printing Workshops
If anyone is interested in printing their own Tote Bag please get in touch, the next workshop in early February is fully booked but email info@wypw.org and if enough people want to book another course we can arrange one.
