1. NEWS

Our WYPW Open Weekend was a huge success and drew in a crowd of almost 800. Advertised by leaflets to local schools it was mainly attended by local families many of whom were visiting WYPW for the first time. The free art workshops were extremely popular ranging from World Cup Hats to Expressive monoprinting. On the Sunday afternoon a celebration event of the Create exhibition took place in the gallery. Many children bought relatives and friends to view their work and to enjoy workshops afterwards.
We would like to thank all those who helped to make the weekend a great success. Especially those who facilitated workshops, made refreshments, face-painted, organised the celebration event, or helped out in any way.
We would also like to point out that we are well aware that the event was a little too popular on the Sunday and we have already started to implement changes for next year
The preview event for Six the photography exhibition in our Stairway Gallery by 6 students from Batley School of Art and Design was also well attended with 60 visitors. They organised every aspect of the exhibition, publicity and preview event themselves, in an extremely professional manner. It is a wonderful exhibition, and well worth a look.

Anne Desmet - Urban Evolution
Anne Desmet is an original talent in contemporary artist printmaking. She brings to her prints and mixed-media collages a unique imagination and an abundance of skill and technical expertise. Depicting architecture and the building of cities, the resulting images explore themes of endurance, change, transformation and regeneration in human experience and social space. Urban Evolution has its origin in the year Anne spent living in Italy as a Rome scholar in printmaking, then later inspired by Manchester s Victoria Baths. Multi-layers and urban architectural motifs are juxtaposed in lino-cuts, wood engravings and monotypes, while her collages replicate fragments of memory and Annes fascination for urban architecture. Also editor of Printmaking Today magazine, Anne has won some 25 Exhibition prizes, internationally. Curated by David Morris ,Keeper of Collections at the Whitworth Art Gallery .

£50 Print Sale:

You are cordially invited to the £50 print sale at Hot Bed Press, Manchester.
We are having this special sale as a fundraiser for improvements to our equipment and resources.
Why is it special? Well because we have asked a selection of the some of our best printmaker members to produce a new edition of prints just for the sale. There are really some truly beautiful prints for sale including 4 colour screenprints, photo-etchings, etchings, cyanotypes, gum arabic transfer prints and lots more besides. Some of these prints would normally sell for way in excess of 100 and have been donated to the cause of Hot Bed Press.
This really is an opportunity to buy some original work at one great price and to support the regions largest print workshop to grow and develop at the same time.
Come and give your support on Saturday 26th June between 11am and 4pm.
