Studios are often personal and private spaces, each one unique and individual, directly reflecting the character and persona of the artist.
They are places of contemplation, design, inspiration, isolation, collaboration, creation, construction, spontaneity, frustration, de-construction, relief, exhilaration and relaxation.
Some will be chaotic, others havens of calm. Some spaces are heaving with a mixture of creative folk all working side by side, while other sites offer undiscovered pockets of individual innovation and expression.
During HOST artists from around the region offer you a snippet of their world. The trail invites you to experience the variety of work in a range of different atmospheres. We hope youll join us at WYPW for a taste of the wonderful range of creative activity that goes on here

WYPW will be running a large scale participatory workshop at the Warehouse Weekend at Bates Mill, Huddersfield, 1st and 2nd October 2010. As part of Warehouse Weekend there will also be experimental theatre, film screenings, live music, live art on the walls, a real ale beer festival and the Beermat Show.

We are looking for volunteers to help out with facilitating this: its most likely to be a large abstract piece, made up of small lino prints and potato/sponge prints.
If youre interested in getting involved, email Mark at wypwfunding@yahoo.co.uk.
9. ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES AT WAKEFIELD MUSEUM
Alice Holland Cultural Development Officer, Wakefield Museum - (aholland@wakefield.gov.uk) would be interested to hear from any artists about the following:
- Any proposals for future ArtWalks in Wakefield Museum Jan onwards
- Any interest in selling cards or small gifts at WM for November ArtWalk
- CV and pictures if artists would like to be considered for school/community projects also so I have a list to send people when as am getting opportunities through.
November ArtWalk
We are trying something a little bit different for the November date, a sort of Artist co-operative Christmas card Stall. The idea is to support local artists by offering space in the museum and a mulled wine infused festive ArtWalk audience for the sale of Christmas cards or any other small gifty things. Theres been interest from WYPW and I am just getting round to sounding out other groups such as yourself. The space in the museum would be free and we have a small budget for marketing with the artists collectively agreeing on an arrangement for staffing the stall: the museum would not be responsible for any money etc.
ArtWalk 2011
Well be looking for artists to deliver sessions in Wakefield Museum for the 2011 programme of ArtWalks. If anybody would be interested in delivering a session please take a look at the Wakefield Museum Website for updates about temporary exhibitions and pop in to take a look at our permanent collection for some inspiration.
This event is ongoing so please get in touch with a brief proposal if youd like to be involved.
If you are interested in taking part or finding out some more about this, please send Alice an email at aholland@wakefield.gov.uk
10. 3RD APPLE DAY AND AUTUMNAL FESTIVAL HAPPENING AT CLARKE HALL
The 3rd Apple Day and Autumnal Festival will be happening at Clarke Hall on October 24th (Sunday). It is a free event, and has become one of the most popular ones of the year.
It will include a celebration of crafts skills - free indoor or outdoor space is being offered and artists would be welcome to sell their work. Last year the festival had about 400 visitors.
