1. DONATE TO WYPW - JUST TEXT GIVING
As you may know, in an effort to repair and maintain our ageing building, WYPW has been on a bit of a fund raising mission of late. We joined up to Vodafone’s Just Text Giving service for a short while and have managed to raise some much needed funds.
Unfortunately our time on Just Giving will come to an end at the end of the year. On the plus side that means there is still time to donate and help us restore an important local landmark and valuable creative space. You can help us out by following these simple steps:

You will be able to donate through the Just Giving service until the end of December.
Every penny counts and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Your donations will go a long way in helping us improve and maintain our lovely old building.
Text WYPW10 to 70070 or visit www.justgiving.com/westyorkshireprintws/donate

2. CHARITY ART AUCTION
Continuing on our funding quest, WYPW will be holding its first Online Charity Art Auction this week.
We have a variety of original, hand-made prints (and hand-crafted jewellery) from a number of talented artists and members of WYPW up for grabs, with bidding starting from as little as £5!
This is an excellent opportunity to own some fantastic, original artworks, including a print from Northern Art Prize shortlisted Artist and WYPW studio holder Liadin Cooke. If you want to know more about Liadin and her work, click here to watch a short Northern Art Prize film.
All the artwork for sale can be seen on WYPW’s eBay for Charity page myworld.ebay.co.uk/wyprintworkshop when the auctions go live shortly after 7:00pm tonight (Thursday 1st December).
All the auctions are open for 10 days, so get bidding on some fantastic artwork for yourself or a Christmas present and help us to raise some money at the same time.

4. FLOURISH 2011 AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Congratulations to Miriam Trent and Meg Buick this year's joint winners of the Flourish Award for excellence in print making. We had a great response to the exhibition at WYPW with thirteen entrants and look forward to displaying the winners' work in 2012 at the WYPW Gallery and Huddersfield Art Gallery. The judges also commended the work of Gavin Campbell, Catherine Brooke and Graham Pilling.
The judges felt that it was a really high standard of work to choose between and it was a tough task to pick the winners. Thanks to all who entered and to the judges for their time. I will be forwarding all the judges’ comments back to the members who entered in the next week.

9. HELP WANTED TO RUN WORKSHOPS
In the next few months we will be starting work on a joint project with Matrix Youth Project to create a Graffiti Art area at the side of the WYPW building.
This project is about working with young people who hang about in public places. They provide a drop-in in the town centre where young people can go and sit inside, and introduce them to new skills and experiences.
The project desperately needs new volunteers to help with new projects, particularly art based.
For further details please contact Pam by email on pam@wypw.org.

10. TECHNICIANS IN NEED
We need your old stuff!
Rags, newspapers and plastic containers for mixing inks, please! You can drop them off outside our office.
Press News:
Our Imperial press is still being worked on at Harry. F. Rochat Ltd, and its arrival date will now be February 2012.
Seeing as it’ll be a pretty permanent fixture in the print room for the years to come, we feel it ought to have a name. Any suggestions you have for what we could name it would be most welcome! Email them to paul@wypw.org.

F. CALL FOR ENTRIES: ‘ON BREAD ALONE’ AT NEXUS ART CAFÉ
Nexus host around six different exhibitions a year in and around our cafe and purpose built front window installation space. In addition to our core programme, we also run various related artist led events and workshops. Check out our Art at Nexus Facebook group here.
We have also recently established a new artist in residency scheme which runs from one to three months and invite applications from local artists with an interest in community arts and outreach work.
Call for Submissions: “On Bread Alone”
When times are lean, is art an indulgent luxury that should be trimmed? Is it enough to focus on our physical needs, or are we in need of other types of nourishment? Does art just feed egos? Or does it set the table for us all to break bread together?
Nexus Art Café is inviting submissions from artistic practitioners working across all fields and disciplines who are interested in exploring the relationship between need (broadly defined) and creativity.
Please send submissions to submissions@nexusartcafe.com with ‘On Bread Alone’ as the subject title. We require up to 5 images (max 1000 pixels square/72 dpi), an artist statement and a CV.
Deadline for submissions: Sunday 5th February 2012.
The exhibition will take place at Nexus Art Cafe between 19th April and 17th June 2012 (install period 9-18 April). Informal questions can be directed to Emily/Hannah on art@nexusartcafe.com.
