Bookbinding: Flat back sketchbooks/journals
Are you struggling to find the perfect sized sketchbook for your creative exploits? Perhaps you’re an avid journaller searching for the perfect book to store your deepest darkest thoughts? Or maybe you simply fancy exploring a heritage craft and indulging yourself in a day of learning the skills to make beautiful books either for yourself or someone special in the future. During this one day workshop you will be guided under the watchful eye of experienced book binder Roger Grech to make a multi sectioned hard back book.
During the workshop you will be taught how to prepare sections for sewing, endpapers and quarter case making as well as all the correct terminology. Alongside the hands on tutorial Roger will also throw in a few tricks of the trade along the way!
Roger is a regular tutor here at WYPW, here what previous students have to say about his workshops:
“I had a wonderful time, despite being unable to judge the middle of anything! Mr. Grech was a very encouraging teacher, with endless patience. I shall be practising book-making with enthusiasm, as I think this is something I could really enjoy and find useful. “
“Roger is incredibly knowledgeable about his craft, I had a wonderful afternoon learning from such a great teacher”
The course is suitable for complete beginners or for anyone with a little knowledge wishing to learn more. Prior completion of the single section beginners course would be helpful but not necessary.
