We are delighted to welcome Sean Rorke from Hot Bed Press to teach this exciting weekend course! Bring your photographic images to life through photo-etching – transform them from high-contrast black and white photocopies into etching plates, add tone with aquatint, and then take the image further through inking and printing in multi-colours, and etching the plates further with line and added drawn marks.
You will be shown how to ‘water-slide’ the Photec photopolymer film onto the plate, expose the image and process it to be ready to etch. From here on in you will be treating the plate like an etching and learn aquatinting and biting the plate in acid to different depths.
No previous experience necessary for this course, but it is an advantage to know a little about etching.
Sean Rorke is Artistic Director of Hot Bed Press in Salford and has been etching and photo-etching in his own practice for 30 years.
All course prices include basic materials such as inks, paper, tools and equipment. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different, or take some materials home to try out.
After attending this course you will be well equipped to join our workshop as a member and continue to use our facilities to make and develop your own work. The sooner the better, as the longer you leave it the more you are likely to forget! Find out more about membership here: http://www.wypw.org/shop/standard-membership/
If you need to cancel your place on a course and you give at least 10 working days notice, you will be offered a credit note, valid for one year, which can be used in payment towards another course. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any refunds if the period of notice given is less than 10 working days. West Yorkshire Print Workshop reserves the right to cancel courses. If this happens, full refunds will be given.
