Learn the process of screen printing and produce hand-made posters and art-prints!
This 2 day course will cover the entire process of getting your design ready for print, preparing and creating screens, and screenprinting prints and posters; specific topics to be covered will be:
- Designing work using graphics software or by hand
- Making your design ‘screenprint friendly’-understanding the pros and cons of the medium
- Registration tips and tricks
- Using such techniques as trapping and overprinting
- Screenprinting accurately and at speed
- Paper types and weights
While not intended as a beginner’s course, no previous experience of screenprinting is required but would of course be helpful. This course is best suited to graphic designers or illustrators who want to learn how to translate their work into screenprinting, or for those who have already started out in printing and want to improve their skills.
The course is run by Graham Pilling, an established screen print artist who has exhibited and sold his work internationally, and will be on hand to answer questions, offer advice and share his experiences. Graham Pilling is a graphic designer, illustrator & printmaker living and working in Leeds. He has been producing screen printed work since 2008, specialising in screen printed concert posters for bands and record labels.
All course prices include basic materials such as ink and cartidge paper. We also stock a range of good quality printmaking papers including Somerset, Fabriano, Zerkall and Hanhnemuhle, which can be purchased as extra. Tea, coffee and biscuits are also provided.
If you need to cancel your place on a course and you give at least 10 working days notice, you will be offered a credit note, valid for one year, which can be used in payment towards another course. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any refunds if the period of notice given is less than 10 working days. West Yorkshire Print Workshop reserves the right to cancel courses. If this happens, full refunds will be given.
