Screen Printing Posters
Learn the process of screen printing in our professionally equipped workshops and produce hand-made posters and art-prints! This 2 day course will cover the entire screen printing process – from getting your design ready for print and translating onto a screen using the photo-stencil process, to screen printing multi-coloured prints and posters. Learners on this course can expect to create a small edition of 2-colour A3 size prints on quality paper to take home with them.
Specific topics to be covered will be:
- Designing print imagery using graphics software or by hand
- Making your design ‘screen print friendly’- understanding the pros and cons of the medium
- Registration tips and tricks
- Techniques such as trapping, overprinting, transparency effects, and blends
- Paper types and weights
While not intended as a beginner’s course, no previous experience of screen printing is required but would of course be helpful. This course is best suited to graphic designers or illustrators who want to learn how to translate their work into screen printing, or for those who have already started out in printing and want to improve their skills.
The course is run by Graham Pilling, an established screen print artist who has exhibited and sold his work internationally, and will be on hand to answer questions, offer advice and share his experiences. Graham Pilling is a graphic designer, illustrator & printmaker living and working in Leeds. He has been producing screen printed work since 2008, specialising in screen printed concert posters for bands and record labels.
All course prices include basic materials such as inks, paper, tools and equipment. Other materials and printmaking papers will be available to buy during the course if you would like to try something a bit different, or take some materials home to try out.
After attending this course you will be well equipped to join our workshop as a member and continue to use our facilities to make and develop your own work, with technical support on hand if you need it. The sooner the better, as the longer you leave it the more you are likely to forget! Find out more about membership here: http://www.wypw.org/shop/standard-membership/
